On the occasion of World Day for Safety and Health at Work, Papoutsanis actively reaffirms its commitment to ensuring a safe and modern work environment for its employees by implementing a comprehensive framework of preventive measures, training, and operational readiness.
In this context, the company recently completed a large-scale preparedness exercise codenamed “SEISICHTHON 2026,” in collaboration with the relevant authorities, including the Chalkida Fire Department, the Oinofyta Fire Department, Civil Protection, the Hellenic Police, the National Ambulance Service (EKAV), and the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (DEDDIE), testing the effectiveness of response mechanisms under real-world conditions.
The exercise was based on a scenario involving a major earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale and subsequent events, such as building collapses, fires, and trapped workers, putting protocols for evacuation, coordination, and crisis management into practice. The company’s workforce mobilized immediately, following established safety procedures, while fire safety teams worked closely with the relevant authorities to ensure the safe and timely management of the incident.
Preparation for the drill included targeted training and briefings for employees and fire safety teams, enhancing employees’ readiness and operational response in particularly demanding conditions and emergency situations.
At the same time, Papoutsanis consistently invests in training its employees in critical health and safety skills, implementing programs that include First Aid, CPR, and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), ensuring that staff are fully prepared to respond immediately and effectively to potential incidents.
The health and safety of employees, as well as external partners and visitors to the facilities, are a fundamental priority for the company, which implements comprehensive management systems, incorporating relevant practices into both the operation of its facilities and its decision-making processes. Through continuous training, risk assessment, and process improvement, Papoutsanis fosters a strong culture of prevention and accountability.
Mr. Konstantinos Zisis, Environmental, Health & Safety Lead at Papoutsanis, stated:“Health and safety are critical factors in our daily operations and corporate culture. We systematically invest in the training and preparedness of our people so that we can respond immediately and effectively to any challenge. Initiatives such as the “SEISIXTHON 2026” exercise, conducted in collaboration with the relevant authorities, reinforce cooperation, vigilance, and accountability in practice, creating a safe environment for everyone.”
