The Hellenic Statistical Authority has released the results of the Construction Activity Survey for January 2026. Specifically:
The volume of Total Construction Activity (Private - Public), in January 2026, nationwide, based on building permits issued, amounted to 2,034 building permits, corresponding to 482,056 m² of floor area and 2,612.547 m³ of volume, representing a 15.4% increase in the number of building permits, a 67.3% increase in floor area, and a 107.3% increase in volume, compared to the corresponding month of 2025.
The number of Private Construction Activity permits issued nationwide in January 2026 totaled 2,013 building permits, corresponding to 474,263 m² of floor area and 2,563.422 m³ of volume, representing a 15.3% increase in the number of building permits, a 67.9% increase in floor area, and a 107.7% increase in volume, compared to the corresponding month of 2025.
The number of Public Construction Activity permits issued in January 2026, nationwide, totaled 21 building permits, corresponding to 7,793 m² of floor area and 49,125 m³ of volume. The share of Public Construction Activity in the total construction volume for January 2026 is 1.9%.
Over the past twelve months, that is, from February 2025 to January 2026, the volume of Total Construction Activity (Private - Public), based on building permits issued nationwide, amounted to 30,471 building permits, corresponding to 6,768,876 m² of floor area and 32,396,022 m³ of volume. Compared to the corresponding period of February 2024–January 2025, there was a 0.5% decrease in the number of building permits, a 4.9% decrease in floor area, and a 3.8% increase in volume.
During the same period, February 2025–January 2026, private construction activity nationwide showed a 0.3% decrease in the number of building permits issued, a 4.5% decrease in floor area, and a 4.5% increase in volume, compared to the corresponding period of February 2024–January 2025. The share of public construction activity in the total construction volume for the above period is 2.7%.
