Starting yesterday , Monday , Sklavenitis revised its pricing policy for its online store , introducing a fee for large orders for the first time. The new structure includes a minimum fee of 1 euro for purchases over 100 euros, while for orders valued between 20 and 100 euros, the cost remains at 2.50 euros.
The key change lies in the elimination of free shipping for orders over 100 euros, a model that until recently served as a key incentive for larger purchases.
Sources familiar with the decision told Euro2day.gr that the 1-euro fee is directly linked to the significant increase in shipping costs.
The market leader’s move paves the way for other players to reconsider their own pricing policies.
As for the online channel, it continues to grow, albeit at a moderate pace. According to NielsenIQ, its market share has risen from 2.6% in 2022 to over 3.3% in early 2026.
Meanwhile, data from Convert Group and Circana show that in the first quarter, the value of the e-basket reached €80 million, with a marginal increase of 1%. There was also a 4% drop in the number of orders but a 4% increase in items per basket.
In other words, consumers are making more targeted and larger purchases.
