The Hellenic Food Authority (EFET), and specifically the Regional Directorate of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, while conducting inspections as part of the “Official Control of Microbiological Food Safety Criteria for the year 2026,” took samples of a frozen meat product with the following details: GLUTEN-FREE CHICKEN BIFTEKI with a use-by date of 02/16/2027 and a production/freezing date of 10/24/2025, produced by the company “A. KARAGIANNAKIS S.A. – Karagiannakis Chickens of Chalkidiki."
Following laboratory analyses at the Kavala Veterinary Laboratory of the Thessaloniki Veterinary Center Directorate, the presence of the pathogenic microorganism Salmonella spp. was detected in the above sample.
EFET has demanded the immediate recall of the entire batch of the product in question, and the relevant inspections are already underway.
Consumers who have already purchased this product (pictured below) are advised not to consume it.
