“I have made a conscious choice not to get caught up in the opposition’s toxic rhetoric, but to strive every day to make people’s lives a little better,” Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized from Sparta, where he is touring today.
The prime minister argued that “the news in the media does not align with citizens’ priorities and what they discuss at their dinner tables; they are concerned with everyday life.”
The duty of every responsible prime minister, he said, “is to keep the ship of the nation safe in the turbulent waters we are navigating. Greece has never been stronger.”
Mr. Mitsotakis emphasized to the public that “you will hear many promises and science-fiction scenarios. We heard them years ago, and you saw where that led us. There is one thing I will not jeopardize: the country’s fiscal stability. We must not leave debts for our children. In the coming months, we will provide further support to Greek society, but we will not risk the future.”
He acknowledged that “day-to-day life is not easy; we are facing a wave of inflation. The Greek government will stand by its citizens; the surplus from growth will be converted into a dividend of social progress.”
The prime minister stated that“the credibility of policies is judged by results and consistency. Let’s look back at what we said in 2023 and what we’ve accomplished. Citizens will vote based on what we’ll do, but we’ll have greater credibility if we’ve delivered on our promises.”
He also noted that he has been conducting regular tours for the past seven years, “I am constantly close to the citizens, and I pledge to do everything in my power to honor their trust and affection.”
He also emphasized that “we did not choose May 21 at random to inaugurate the restoration projects in Mystras. It is the 29th archaeological site we are delivering—this administration honors our history, but at the same time we embrace the future and rise to the occasion.”
The Prime Minister also mentioned nurses, who “are finally being classified as working in arduous and hazardous occupations.”
