At 6:00 p.m., the final results of the DYPA social tourism program will be posted, with more than 300,000 beneficiaries “securing their subsidized vacations for this year, ” while applications for children’s camps are also being processed.
DYPA Director Yianna Chormova, speaking to ERTnews, stated that the appeals process has been completed and “many beneficiaries can already see on their personal profiles whether they are eligible, ” noting that the final results will be posted this afternoon on the agency’s website.
How the program works
Once the results are posted, each eligible recipient receives a unique voucher number without needing to take any further action. The voucher can be used within 12 months at participating accommodations listed on the agency’s interactive map.
The program provides for up to 12 free nights in regions such as Northern Euboea and Thessaly (excluding the Sporades) and up to 10 free nights on islands such as Leros, Lesbos, Chios, Samos, and Rhodes. In the rest of the country, up to 6 nights are provided, with a small co-payment ranging from 1 to 12 euros per person, depending on the accommodation.
At the same time, a 75% subsidy is provided for ferry tickets, while tickets are free for people with disabilities.
The agency’s management emphasizes that inspections of providers have been stepped up, with strict penalties for violations, and urges citizens to file formal complaints when they observe irregularities.
Who is eligible
The program is for private-sector workers and the unemployed. It was clarified that a significant percentage of appeals were rejected because they came from public employees who did not meet the criteria.
Special consideration has been given to large families, who are participating this year without a points system.
Applications for children’s camps are currently being accepted
Meanwhile, applications are still being accepted for the children’s camp program, which offers 70,000 vouchers, with a deadline of Tuesday at 11:59 p.m.
The program covers the period from June 15 to September 10, with increased points for children with disabilities and the option of an extended stay of up to one month.
The agency’s director noted that the final results for the social tourism program for retirees, for which more than 45,000 applications have been submitted, are expected within the next week.
