The annual Meeting of Insurers and Reinsurers, organized by the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies (HIA) in Hydra, from Wednesday, May 20, through Friday, May 22, 2026, under the auspices of the Municipality of Hydra.
According to the relevant press release, this year’s event was attended by more than 450 executives from the insurance and reinsurance markets in Greece and abroad.
The Insurance & Reinsurance Meeting has now become a long-standing institution for the insurance and reinsurance market, offering an important meeting point for the exchange of views, strengthening cooperation, and discussing the challenges and prospects of the sector at both the domestic and international levels.
This year’s event featured high-level discussions with the participation of key representatives from the international and Greek insurance and reinsurance markets. On Thursday, May 21, at the Conference Center of the Metropolis of Hydra, the opening speeches were delivered by the President of the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies (EAEE), Mr. Alexandros Sarigeorgiou, and the Secretary General for the Financial Sector and Private Debt Management, Ms. Theoni Alampasi.
This was followed by a panel discussion titled “Insurance & Reinsurance at a Turning Point: Strategy and Resilience,” which focused on the challenges and adaptation strategies of the insurance and reinsurance markets in a constantly changing international environment. The discussion featured Mario Baotic, Head of International Growth Markets at Howden Re; Marco Dalle Vacche, General Manager of the MEDI cluster at AIG; Diana Santin, Regional Manager MEDI and Country Manager Italy at Lloyd’s Europe; and Alfonso Valera, CEO International, Reinsurance Solutions at AON. The discussion was moderated by Mr. William Vidonja, Head of Conduct of Business, Insurance Europe.
On Friday, May 22 , a leadership panel was held on the topic “Greek Insurance Market – Leadership Discussion,” featuring leading executives from the Greek insurance market. Specifically, participants included Dimitris Mazarakis, CEO of Ethniki Insurance; Errikos Moatsos, CEO of ERGO Hellas; and Pavlos Kaskareilis, CEO of Ydrogios Insurance and Reinsurance. The speakers discussed developments in the Greek insurance market, the challenges of the future, and the industry’s growth prospects. The discussion was moderated by the General Director of the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies (EAEE), Ms. Elina Papaspyropoulou.
