EFET, specifically the Regional Directorate of Western Greece, while conducting inspections as part of the program “Official control for monitoring food safety chemical parameters, determination of metals in food” for the year 2026, took samples of the product “GLAUKOS FETA A/D SHRINK” (FROZEN), with the following labeling information: FISHING ZONE (FAO 87) SOUTH PACIFIC OCEAN, FREEZING DATE 09/13/2025, BEST BEFORE 09/13/2027, and batch number LOT: 07626.
This product is packaged for Four FISH IKE and bears the manufacturer’s approval code GR 02-KN-07 EU (G. Sideris S.A.). The sample was obtained from the company GEORGIOS ANT. PSYCHOGIOPOULOS E.E. (distributor).
The product was examined by the First Department of the Chemical Service of Epirus and Western Macedonia, of the General Chemical State Laboratory, of the AADE, and was classified as NON-COMPLIANT - UNSAFE because it was found to contain mercury in a concentration exceeding the maximum permitted limit.
EFET demanded the immediate recall of the entire batch of this food product, and the relevant inspections are already underway.
