Demand for travel during the three-day Holy Spirit holiday weekend remains high compared to last year, despite the uncertainty caused by the energy crisis among consumers.
According to AEGEAN data, the average flight load factor for this year’s Holy Spirit long weekend and for the period from May 28 to June 2 is 80% on international routes and 75% on domestic routes.
The most popular destinations
The top international destinations to and from Athens are Helsinki, Lisbon, Nice, Porto, and Amsterdam.
Domestically, travelers mainly choose Ikaria, Skiathos, Chania, Paros, and Ioannina.
To and from Thessaloniki, the most popular international destinations are Larnaca, Barcelona, Paris, Rome, and Brussels, while domestically, Rhodes, Lemnos, Mytilene, Mykonos, and Chania stand out.
Load factors up to 95%
On the domestic network from Athens Airport, traffic peaks on Friday, May 29, with load factors reaching 93%.
For international flights, the heaviest traffic is expected on Saturday, May 30, when load factors reach 90%, while the return of travelers peaks on June 1.
Similarly, from Thessaloniki Airport, domestic flight occupancy on Friday, May 29, is expected to reach 95%.
According to AEGEAN, most Greek travelers made their reservations well in advance, primarily for international destinations and high-demand dates.
At the same time, seats remain available for popular destinations such as Paris, Zurich, and Larnaca, as well as for less traditional options such as Palma de Mallorca, Krakow, and Prague.
