A ten-member delegation from EY Greece traveled to London to participate in the seventh event organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, “ReBrain Greece,” which took place on Saturday, May 9.
According to the relevant press release, the event was attended by more than 3,000 Greeks living abroad, who were informed about the prospects for their repatriation.
Contributing actively to brain regain
EY Greece has actively supported the Ministry’s initiative since 2024, demonstrating the firm’s commitment to the collective effort by the government and businesses to promote brain regain. In recent years, moreover, EY’s efforts to repatriate Greeks living abroad have yielded significant results.
Specifically, from 2021 to the present, 122 professionals have returned to our country to work at EY, with 39 of them in the last 12 months. In terms of geographic origin, 35% returned from the United Kingdom, 25% from countries in Central and Northern Europe, 20% from the U.S., and the remaining 20% from other regions.
George Papadimitriou, CEO of EY Greece, stated:“Leveraging Greek talent is a top priority at a time that calls for a transformation of the economy’s production model.
EY’s ongoing efforts in this direction are reflected, on the one hand, in the repatriation of highly skilled Greeks from abroad in recent years and, on the other hand, in the creation of quality jobs that employ both young and experienced professionals and scientists in projects with added and multiplier value for the economy and businesses.”
Less goodies, for a good cause: A new sustainable development initiative
As part of the event, EY Greece also launched the “Less goodies, for a good cause” initiative to reduce the amount of physical promotional material it distributes at information and recruitment events.
Instead, the relevant budget will now be allocated, on an annual basis, as a donation to selected non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Candidates visiting EY’s booths during these events will have the opportunity to learn in detail about the initiative’s philosophy and social impact and to vote for one of two pre-selected NGOs.
Greeks in London enthusiastically embraced the new initiative, actively supporting it through their participation. For the current cycle, “The Smile of the Child” and the magazine “Schedia” have been selected as partners. The total amount of the donation will be distributed at the end of each fiscal year proportionally, based on the total number of votes cast.
