Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Minister of National Economy and Finance, visited the Mygdonia General High School in Drymos, Thessaloniki, today, on the occasion of the first-place win in the European Money Competition by 10th-grade students Sofia Maria Triviza and Ourania Tetziridou.
As a reward for this distinction, as stated in an announcement by the Hellenic Bank Association, the four donor banks of the “MARIETTA YANNAKOU” program, Alpha Bank, Eurobank, National Bank of Greece, and Piraeus Bank, along with the relevant ministries (Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports, Infrastructure and Transport, and the Interior) responded positively to Minister Pierrakakis’ initiative to add this specific school to the “MARIETTA YANNAKOU” program this year, in addition to the 238 schools already scheduled.
Sixty students from 30 European countries, who had previously distinguished themselves in national competitions, sixty students from 30 European countries participated, having previously distinguished themselves in national competitions among 100,000 students from all countries. The two Greek students took first place.
To the two winners of the European competition, as well as the national competition that preceded it and was coordinated by the Hellenic Bank Association, the head of the HBA’s Banking Institute and Financial Literacy Division, Sophia Ziaku, today presented two laptops as a symbolic token of recognition from the HBA for their great success. Furthermore, as stipulated in the European competition, the school will receive a cash prize, while it has already received a desktop computer as part of the national competition.
