The Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) announces the results of the Construction Activity Survey for February 2026.
Specifically:
The volume of Total Construction Activity (Private - Public), in February 2026, nationwide, based on building permits issued, amounted to 2,258 building permits, corresponding to 598,618 m² of floor area and 3,297.977 m³ of volume, representing a 5.4% increase in the number of building permits, a 42.6% increase in area, and a 51.5% increase in volume, compared to the corresponding month of 2025
The number of Private Construction Activity permits issued nationwide in February 2026 totaled 2,240 building permits, corresponding to 596,100 m² of floor area and 3,285.520 m³ of volume, representing a 5.7% increase in the number of building permits, a 45.7% increase in area, and a 54.3% increase in volume, compared to the corresponding month of 2025 (Table 2).
The number of Public Construction Activity permits issued in February 2026, nationwide, totaled 18 building permits, corresponding to 2,518 m² of floor area and 12,457 m³ of volume. The share of Public Construction Activity in the total construction volume for February 2026 amounts to 0.4%.
Over the past twelve months, that is, from March 2025 to February 2026, the volume of Total Construction Activity (Private - Public), based on building permits issued, across the country, amounted to 30,587 building permits, corresponding to 6,947,742 m² of floor area and 33,517,614 m³ of volume.
Compared to the corresponding period of March 2024–February 2025, there was a 1.9% increase in the number of building permits, a 0.6% increase in floor area, and an 8.8% increase in volume.
During the same period, March 2025–February 2026, private construction activity nationwide showed a 2.1% increase in the number of building permits issued, a 1.2% increase in floor area, and a 9.8% increase in volume, compared to the corresponding period of March 2024–February 2025. The share of Public Construction Activity in the total construction volume for the above period amounts to 2.5%.
In the two-month period of January–February 2026, total construction activity across the country showed a 9.9% increase in the number of building permits, a 52.7% increase in floor area, and a 72.0% increase in volume, compared to the corresponding two-month period of 2025.
During the same period of January–February 2026, private construction activity across the country showed a 10.0% increase in the number of building permits, a 54.8% increase in floor area, and a 73.9% increase in volume, compared to the January - February 2025.
