The Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) announces the seasonally adjusted estimates of employment and unemployment for April 2026.
- The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in April 2026 stood at 9.5%, compared to the upwardly revised 9.0% in April 2025 and the upwardly revised 10.4% in March 2026.
- The number of employed persons stood at 4,318,719, marking a decrease of 3,592 compared to April 2025 (-0.1%) and a decrease of 9,887 people compared to March 2026 (-0.2%).
- The number of unemployed reached 452,305, marking an increase of 26,607 compared to April 2025 (6.3%) and a decrease of 49,471 compared to March 2026 (-9.9%).
- The number of people under 75 who are not part of the labor force, or “people outside the labor force”—that is, those who are neither working nor looking for work—totaled 2,949,960, marking a decrease of 57,141 people compared to April 2025 (-1.9%) and an increase of 52,020 people compared to March 2026 (1.8%).
