The 4th Private Wealth Management Conference organized by the CFA Society Greece was held with great success on May 26, 2026, at a central hotel in Athens.
According to the relevant press release, for the fourth consecutive year, CFA Society Greece brought together leading executives from the investment and financial community in Greece and abroad, creating a high-level forum for the exchange of knowledge and experiences regarding current developments in private wealth management.
During the conference, the most significant trends shaping the future of wealth management in an environment of heightened uncertainty and rapid technological advancements were analyzed. Discussions focused on geopolitical developments and their impact on investment strategies, the transformative role of artificial intelligence in wealth management, as well as investment opportunities in public and private markets.
The conference was opened by Mr. George Panagopoulos, CFA, President of CFA Society Greece, who welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of continuous education, the exchange of expertise, and the promotion of professional excellence in the investment industry.
This was followed by a keynote presentation by Mr. Chris Aesop, President of the Hellenic Association of Institutional Investors, on the topic “Adapt or Attrite: Surviving the Multitrillion Generational Shift,” which highlighted the challenges and opportunities created by the intergenerational transfer of wealth for the wealth management industry.
The keynote address of the conference was delivered by Mr. Vasilis Milia, Vice President and Account Manager at PIMCO, on the topic “Opportunities and Trends in an Era of Layered Uncertainty.” In his speech, he analyzed the complex international environment shaped by geopolitical, economic, and investment factors, as well as the opportunities emerging for investors within this new reality.
The first session, titled “Market Outlook and Geopolitics: Implications for Private Wealth Managers,” focused on the economic and geopolitical forces influencing global markets and investor behavior. Moderated by Ms. Alexia Drakopoulou, CFA, Vice President of the CFA Society Greece, Mr. Daniel Morris, CFA, Chief Market Strategist at BNP Paribas Asset Management, Mr. Imad Ghosn, Founder & CIO of Sapientia, and Aristides Vourakis, CEO of Aegean Baltic Bank, discussed the challenges posed by market volatility, geopolitical tensions, and rising energy prices, as well as the strategies that asset management professionals can adopt to build resilient portfolios.
Ms. Eleni Filos, CFA, Managing Director of CFA Society Greece, then presented the recent study by the CFA Institute Research and Policy Center titled “Next-Gen Investors: A Guide for Wealth Managers and Financial Advisers.” The presentation highlighted the changing priorities and expectations of the new generation of investors, the growing role of technology in investment decision-making, as well as the importance of a personalized advisory approach, transparency, and trust in building long-term relationships with clients.
The second session, titled “Intelligence Amplified: AI, Human Insight & the Next Generation of Investors,” focused on the role of artificial intelligence and new technologies in private wealth management. Moderated by Mr. Panagiotis Gioume, Partner and Head of Financial Services at Grant Thornton Greece, the session featured Mr. Kitsos Botsaris, Private Banking Manager at Alpha Bank, Dimitris Kantzelis, CEO & Co-Founder of XSpot Wealth, Gerasimos Kounadis, Head of the Group Data Privacy, Technology & ESG Compliance Advisory Division at National Bank of Greece, and Aristides Protopapadakis, Founder & Managing Director of Systemic, discussed the possibilities, limitations, and regulatory challenges associated with the adoption of artificial intelligence, as well as the importance of human judgment and behavioral understanding in investment decision-making.
The third and final session, titled “Beyond Traditional Portfolios: Public vs. Private Credit and Asset-Backed Finance,” focused on alternative sources of returns beyond traditional asset allocation models. The discussion was moderated by Ms. Elisabeth Vishnevskaja, CFA, Head of Fixed Income at PRI, with participation from Mr. Gonzague Hachette, Investment Specialist – Fixed Income at BNP Paribas Asset Management; Ms. Lalantika Medema, Executive Vice President and Alternatives Product Specialist at PIMCO; and Mr. Alexandros Spanos, Senior Investment Officer at LATSCO Family Office. The speakers analyzed investment opportunities in fixed-income markets, alternative forms of financing, and private markets, as well as risk management strategies in a particularly challenging environment.
Closing the conference, the President of CFA Society Greece, Mr. George Panagopoulos, CFA, emphasized that despite rapid technological advancements and constantly changing markets, the profession’s core values remain unchanged: trust, integrity, and a commitment to the client’s best interests. He also emphasized that the future of the industry will belong to those who can effectively combine innovation with ethics, data with human judgment, and international developments with a deep understanding of local markets.
