Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni attended the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Italian Republic (Festa della Repubblica) at the official invitation of Ambassador Paolo Cuculi.
As she emphasized:“The strategic cooperation between Greece and Italy spans a wide range of sectors and is based on mutual respect, friendship, and a shared commitment to peace and prosperity.”
The minister conveyed the warm wishes of the Greek government and the Greek people to the government and people of Italy on their national anniversary.
At the same time, she emphasized that Greece and Italy are linked by strong historical, cultural, and economic ties and share a strategic partnership that encompasses the entirety of their bilateral relations, cooperating closely within the framework of the European Union.
Furthermore, he emphasized that Greece and Italy are among the world’s leading tourist destinations and share common challenges and responsibilities, such as the protection of natural and cultural heritage, addressing the impacts of climate change, and promoting sustainable tourism development for the benefit of local communities.
As he pointed out, the two countries can play a leading role in shaping a more sustainable and resilient tourism model for the future, one that combines innovation with respect for cultural heritage, economic development with environmental responsibility, and competitiveness with social cohesion. At the same time, she expressed her confidence that cooperation between Greece and Italy in these areas will continue to strengthen both bilaterally and within the framework of the European Union.
In closing, the minister emphasized that in a period of international challenges and uncertainty, the friendship between Greece and Italy serves as an example of the value of dialogue, cooperation, and mutual trust, reaffirming the two countries’ shared commitment to democracy, international law, and the European ideal.
