Statement by Nikos Androulakis, President of PASOK-Movement for Change, at the “Posidonia” International Maritime Exhibition:
I am pleased to be here again this year at the International Maritime Exhibition, “Posidonia.” For us, a strong shipping industry means a strong global presence for our country.
However, we cannot help but be concerned by the fact that the national ship registry is shrinking. We must make the Greek flag attractive again, and that means the immediate implementation of the digital ship registry.
And, of course, modernizing the legislative framework to eliminate bureaucracy and unnecessary procedures.
We have a duty to leverage European experiences within the European and Community frameworks.
We must provide incentives for young people to pursue a career in the maritime sector—by supporting maritime schools—and offer prospects in shipping, because they are among our most important ambassadors abroad.
