EFET, and specifically the Regional Directorate of Central Macedonia, while conducting inspections as part of the “Official Inspection for Monitoring Microbiological Food Safety Criteria” for the year 2026, took a sample of “MAROULENIA” salad containing romaine lettuce, butterhead, and escarole, with batch number L/261462 5 and a best-by date of 06/03/2026, which is produced and packaged in Greece by the company BARBA STATHIS M.A.B.E.E., headquartered in the Thessaloniki Industrial Zone Thessaloniki, Sindos, Thessaloniki.
Following testing by the Thessaloniki Department of Food Laboratory Testing & Research of the EFET Laboratory Structures Directorate, the presence of the pathogenic microorganism Listeria monocytogenes was detected in the above sample.
EFET has demanded the immediate recall of the entire batch of the product in question, and the relevant inspections are already underway. Consumers who have purchased the above product are advised not to consume it.
