Nikos Androulakis, president of PASOK-Movement for Change, attended an event on energy communities in Arkalochori, Heraklion, Crete, this morning, where he stated that “Mr. Mitsotakis and the New Democracy government must become a thing of the past.”
Mr. Androulakis noted that “the prime minister, even today, with his post, is asking the Greek people for a third chance. A third chance because he managed to ensure that Greek citizens have the lowest purchasing power in Europe? A third term because a young family cannot find a home with low rent? A third term because public health and public education are in ‘good’ condition?”
“I ask the Greek people to trust us so that together we can bring about the necessary political change. So that we may have social justice and national dignity,” he emphasized, noting that from the moment he became president of PASOK, he raised two issues: “Social housing and rent caps to lower the cost of living, as well as the issue of a fair, green energy transition.”
He also accused the New Democracy party of “handing over the energy sector to powerful oligarchs.” “We have very few real energy communities. And that is why today’s event honors Arkalochori. Energy communities are a tool for societies to achieve low production costs and a low cost of living,” he noted.
When asked about the fragmentation of the opposition, Mr. Androulakis replied that “it is up to the Greek people to choose parties with a program that can bring about real change in the country. And if the citizens honor us with their vote, they can be sure that this political change will come.”
