The Ministry of Labor and Social Security is launching a new program to hire an additional 1,000 unemployed people with disabilities (PWD) in first- and second-level local government organizations, with the aim of increasing the employability of unemployed people with disabilities and addressing discrimination in the labor market.
It should be noted that this is, in fact, the first time the program has been extended to second-level local government organizations.
It is worth noting that a total of 3,000 jobs have been created for this purpose.
The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Niki Kerameos, stated: “Guided by our ongoing effort to combat unemployment, we are supporting specific social groups that face greater difficulties in entering the labor market and are creating 1,000 additional jobs by expanding the employment program for people with disabilities in local government agencies across the country. Equal access to employment opportunities contributes significantly to promoting social inclusion and true equality. At the same time, we have strengthened local government agencies with a total of 3,000 employees since the program’s inception, thereby helping to better staff them. We will continue our unrelenting efforts to offer equal opportunities for all in the labor market.”
The program aims to fill 1,000 additional full- or part-time positions with individuals with disabilities registered in the Public Employment Service’s Digital Registry of Unemployed Persons. The program lasts 18 months and subsidizes 75% of wages and contributions, with a maximum limit of 750 euros per month.
