UCB is delighted to announce the appointment of Mariangela Oikonomopoulou as SEE Head of Access & External Engagement for Southeast Europe, effective June 2, 2026.
In her new role, Ms. Oikonomopoulou will lead the Access & External Engagement strategy in the region, with the aim of improving timely and equitable patient access to innovative therapies, as well as strengthening meaningful partnerships with key stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem.
According to the announcement, she has over 18 years of experience in External Affairs and Market Access, with a distinguished career in the pharmaceutical and MedTech industries. Prior to UCB, she served as Head of External Affairs and Patient Value Access at Takeda for Greece, Cyprus, and Malta. She has also served as General Manager & Board Member at the PhARMA Innovation Forum (PIF) Greece and Head of External Affairs & Market Access at Medtronic Hellas.
She holds a Ph.D. in Biology and an MBA, combining scientific expertise with strategic business thinking.
With a patient-centered approach and deep knowledge of the healthcare ecosystem, Mariangela Oikonomopoulou aspires to make a meaningful contribution to creating solutions that improve access and people’s lives.
