Pavlos Polakis has given Socrates Famellos an ultimatum: if he does not reach an agreement (on coordinated cooperation between the Hellenic Police and SYRIZA) with Alexis Tsipras within ten days, or if he does not even negotiate with him, he will be shown the door.
Speaking to “Open,” the independent MP first dismissed his status as “independent” following his expulsion by Mr. Famellos, stating that he had submitted a question to Parliament along with ten other SYRIZA MPs (regarding the misappropriation of funds in the anti-obesity program), which means, as he said, that he never ceased to function as a member of the party’s parliamentary group.
Mr. Polakis noted that, in his opinion, there has been a personal agreement between Tsipras and Famellos (implying the dissolution of SYRIZA) that they are not making public. Otherwise, as he emphasized, “Mr. Famellos is putting on a show of subservience.”
And he concluded with the warning he has repeated many times: “In ten days, Famellos must present an agreement or a negotiation with Tsipras; otherwise, this mess cannot continue. There will be further developments: “a new meeting of the Central Committee and a reassessment of the facts so we can see how SYRIZA is proceeding.”
When asked whether a motion of no confidence would be filed against Mr. Famellos, he limited his response to: “We’ll see how we proceed.”
It should be noted that Nikos Pappas has also set a ten-day timeline for Mr. Famellos to move toward cooperation (between SYRIZA and Mr. Tsipras’s ELAS).
