GENESIS Pharma, a leading regional biopharmaceutical company specializing in the commercialization of innovative medicines in Europe, announced today the extension of its long-standing commercial partnership with Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: ALNY), a leader in RNAi therapeutics.
According to the announcement, the expanded agreement extends the geographic scope of the collaboration, adding four Nordic markets—Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden—to the thirteen markets in Southeastern Europe that the partnership between the two companies has covered to date. GENESIS Pharma will be responsible for the commercialization of a portfolio of RNAi therapies for severe forms of cardiomyopathy and rare genetic diseases in this expanded geographic region.
The collaboration, which began in 2019 for the Southeast European region, has gradually expanded to a broader portfolio of therapies and markets, covering Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Malta, and Kosovo.
This new strategic expansion reinforces the two companies’ shared commitment to improving patient access to innovative therapies in Europe, particularly in regions where significant unmet medical needs remain.
Norton Oliveira, Senior Vice President & Head of Partner and Emerging Markets at Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, stated: “We are proud of our strong and established partnership with GENESIS Pharma and are particularly pleased to be expanding it to the Nordic region. We are committed to delivering meaningful benefits to patients worldwide.
“Our partnership with GENESIS Pharma allows us to continue meeting the needs of even more patients and their families, offering them the opportunity to benefit therapeutically from Alnylam’s innovative RNAi therapies.”
Konstantinos Evripidis, CEO of GENESIS Pharma, stated: “Since 2019, we have been working closely with Alnylam to ensure patient access to therapies in Southeast Europe.
The expansion into the Nordic countries marks a significant milestone in our partnership and reflects our ongoing commitment to strengthening our presence in Europe, leveraging our three decades of experience and dedication to biotechnology. By combining Alnylam’s groundbreaking scientific innovation with our deep expertise in bringing innovation closer to patients in our region, we continue to expand our presence and enhance the value we deliver to healthcare systems.
