To date, there have been four confirmed cases of sheep and goat pox in the Peloponnese Region.
More specifically, according to the Peloponnese Region, there are two cases at farms in the village of Mavries, Megalopolis, where 176 animals were culled. Additionally, two more cases were reported at farms in Kastraki and Chora in the municipality of Gortynia, where 109 animals were culled. The mayor of Gortynia, Stathis Koulis, also addressed these latest cases at the municipal council meeting. The Regional Veterinary Services are conducting intensive clinical surveillance at all farms located within the designated protection zones. Additionally, inspections will continue in the surveillance zones, in accordance with the prescribed measures.
To date, as stated in the Region’s announcement, no other suspected cases have been identified in the farms under inspection. Meanwhile, the Region’s General Directorate of Regional Agricultural Economy and Veterinary Services is set to issue special guidelines for feed management in Arcadia, as part of the implementation of measures to prevent and contain the disease.
