PASOK MP Michalis Katrinis highlighted the need for society to catch its breath—as evidenced by the widespread demand for political change—while speaking on SKAI TV.
More specifically, speaking on the program “Today” and to journalists Dimitris Oikonomou and Akis Pavlopoulos, he stated that Mr. Mitsotakis is asking for a third chance, Mr. Tsipras is asking for a second chance, and society is asking for a real chance to breathe for the first time—and only PASOK can provide that.
Commenting, in fact, on the Prime Minister’s relevant remarks to the Central Committee of New Democracy, he emphasized that it is not some “oddballs” within the parties who are calling for Mr. Mitsotakis to step down, but rather 70% of Greek society, a percentage that is steadily growing in all opinion polls.
He further argued that instead of taking stock of his achievements, Mr. Mitsotakis tried to sow fear by bringing the slogan “Mitsotakis or chaos” back into the spotlight.
Regarding reports of panic in other party headquarters following the emergence of Mr. Tsipras’s party, he emphasized: “I don’t know if there are parties that are in a panic, but it is certain that there are political figures who, out of panic, change parties like they change shirts,” while adding, “let’s wait for this barrage of media hype to settle so we can see the reality.”
Finally, referring to defense issues, he emphasized that today the Defense Procurement Committee is deciding on direct procurement contracts worth 1.15 billion, and Mr. Dendias, who signs them all, is nowhere to be found and will not show up in Parliament to do the “honor” of supporting them.
