AEGEAN launched a new environmental initiative dedicated to protecting bees and biodiversity in observance of World Environment Day, through the “Bee the Change” campaign.
According to the relevant announcement, as part of the initiative, the company’s volunteer employee group, Team AEGEAN, participated in a hands-on experience aimed at educating and raising awareness about the critical role bees play in preserving ecosystems.
During the event, held on June 5 in collaboration with the organization Bee for Planet, employees built and adopted 60 beehives, which will house a total of 1.2 million bees. At the same time, they created 1,450 biodiversity capsules, contributing to the growth of bee-friendly and other beneficial plants for pollinators.

Participants also had the opportunity to experience the world of beekeeping firsthand, wearing special protective gear and learning about how hives function and the importance of bees for the environment and human life.
Long-term initiative
The “Bee the Change” initiative is not limited to a single day of action. Rather, it marks the beginning of a broader effort to support bees that will unfold throughout the year, through the continuous monitoring and support of the adopted hives, as well as additional outreach and awareness-raising activities regarding the importance of pollinators and biodiversity.
“Bees are one of nature’s most important allies, and their protection is inextricably linked to the conservation of biodiversity and the balance of ecosystems. Through the “Bee the Change” initiative, our people had the opportunity to see how even a small act can contribute to something much bigger: creating a more sustainable future for everyone.
At AEGEAN, we believe that real change begins when awareness turns into action and when people join forces for a common cause.
“Today’s initiative marks the beginning of a broader effort that will continue throughout the year, with the goal of actively supporting bees and leaving a positive impact on the environment,” said Pepi Stamatis, Chief People and Corporate Affairs Officer at AEGEAN.
AEGEAN warmly thanks Bee for Planet for its collaboration and contribution to the implementation of this initiative, as well as all the volunteer employees of the AEGEAN team who participated with enthusiasm and a sense of responsibility. Through such initiatives, the company continues to reinforce its long-standing commitment to sustainable development, environmental protection, and active social contribution, demonstrating that small collective actions can lead to significant and meaningful change.
