At the event marking the two-year anniversary of the Hellenic Center for Defense Innovation (ELKAK), nvisionist publicly unveiled Bastion AI for the first time, an artificial intelligence platform designed to protect critical infrastructure, borders, and strategic facilities. Bastion AI transforms artificial intelligence from a monitoring tool into a tool for situational awareness and decision-making.
The event “Two Years of ELKAK: Review – Results – Strategic Outlook,” which was honored by the presence and keynote address of Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias, brought together the leadership of the Armed Forces (Hellenic National Defense General Staff, Hellenic Army General Staff, Hellenic Navy General Staff, Hellenic Air Force General Staff), international organizations such as the NATO Innovation Fund and France’s AID (Agence de l’innovation de défense), as well as institutional investors.
In this context, the structural cultural shift brought about by “Agenda 2030” was highlighted, with the Armed Forces now posing specific operational questions to the domestic ecosystem, seeking smart, flexible, and Greek solutions, and highlighting the strategic importance of innovation and dual-use technologies for the country’s future.
nvisionist was among the select number of companies chosen by ELKAK to present their technological solutions as part of the event’s innovation exhibition, confirming its position at the forefront of the Greek defense innovation ecosystem. Bastion AI was prominently displayed at the center of the exhibition, right at the entrance to the venue, attracting keen interest from representatives of the government, the Armed Forces, international organizations, and the business community.
Bastion AI represents the next generation of nvisionist’s critical infrastructure surveillance and protection systems. This innovative system is the operational evolution of the technological foundation of nvFirePro, the integrated early fire detection system developed by the company, which detects smoke and fire sources from a distance of 17.5 km and can monitor approximately 950 km² while alerting authorities in less than 60 seconds. While nvFirePro focuses on early fire detection, Bastion AI extends the same technological foundation into a comprehensive system for monitoring, detecting, and assessing threats to critical infrastructure and security applications.
This field-proven architecture of Edge AI, Computer Vision, and Machine Learning has been extended to the rapidly growing field of Dual-Use Technologies. Bastion AI is designed to provide continuous situational awareness, automatic detection, classification, and real-time threat assessment. With specialized capabilities for protecting borders, islets, energy facilities, ports, and airports, as well as advanced capabilities for detecting unmanned aerial systems (anti-drone/C-UAS), the platform directly addresses contemporary security challenges.
nvisionist’s participation confirms the findings of the primary research study “A Dual-Use Nation: Startups” presented by ELKAK, which show that Artificial Intelligence (63%) and dual-use applications (76%) constitute the new field of national competitive advantage, shifting the ecosystem from individual solutions to integrated, exportable, large-scale platforms.
