By decision of Nikos Papathanasis, Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Dr. Theodoros Kounadeas has been appointed head of the Special Service for the Social Climate Fund and the Modernization Fund of the Ministry of National Economy and Finance.
The relevant decision was published in the Government Gazette, and his term of office is three years.
The Special Service for the Social Climate Fund and the Modernization Fund is an independent public service of the Ministry of National Economy and Finance with the mission of coordinating, monitoring, and supporting the implementation of programs and projects funded by the Social Climate Fund and the Modernization Fund of the European Union.
The Service is responsible for the development and operation of the Social Climate Fund’s administration and management system, the coordination of the involved stakeholders, monitoring the implementation of funded interventions, and achieving the milestones and targets set at the national and European levels.
At the same time, the Agency coordinates the operation of the Modernization Fund in Greece, supporting the preparation, evaluation, monitoring, and implementation of investments that contribute to the energy transition of the economy, the improvement of energy efficiency, the development of clean technologies, and the achievement of climate neutrality goals.
Brief Biography
Dr. Theodoros Kounadeas is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Business and Organizational Management at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, with significant academic and professional experience.
He is a graduate of the Department of Economics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and holds three master’s degrees in the fields of accounting, finance, and negotiations. His doctoral dissertation focused on the application of International Accounting Standards/International Financial Reporting Standards (IAS/IFRS) in the European banking sector.
During the 2021–2022 academic year, he served as a Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and has produced significant research and publications in the fields of financial accounting, corporate governance, financial statement analysis, management accounting, and public finance. His articles have been published and presented in international academic journals and conferences.
He served as CEO of the Peloponnese Development Agency S.A. – A.O.T.A. During his tenure, a program for the organizational and financial restructuring of the Organization was implemented, its operational capacity was strengthened, and its role as the technical and development arm of the Peloponnese Region was expanded.
He has worked, among other places, at the Independent Authority for Public Revenue and the Ministry of Finance, and served as a member of the Central Administration of the Economic Chamber of Greece.
His professional and academic career to date combines scientific training, experience in public administration, and knowledge of the management of development and European funding instruments.
