The Independent Authority for Market Control and Consumer Protection has imposed new administrative sanctions following the completion of inspections in two different market sectors: compliance with the permitted gross profit margin and the fight against the distribution of counterfeit products.
These inspections are part of the Authority’s ongoing operational efforts to protect consumers, prevent unfair practices, and ensure market legality. In this context, new administrative fines totaling €389,339 were imposed.
A. Exceeding the Gross Profit Margin
The company TOTTI’S BINGO AEBE (chocolate products category) was fined €309,339 for exceeding the permitted gross profit margin on 33 product codes. The violations found relate to the period from March 13, 2026, to April 3, 2026, and consist of exceeding the permitted profit margin, in violation of applicable law.
B. Seizure of counterfeit products in the Municipality of Dafni
During an inspection conducted at a warehouse in the Municipality of Dafni, 6,341 counterfeit products—accessories—were identified, seized, and destroyed, while fines totaling 80,000 euros were imposed. The Authority utilizes data, information, and targeted inspections, intervening wherever practices are identified that harm consumers, violate the law, or distort fair competition.
