For the third consecutive year, Vasilis Psaltis was named the top CEO both in Greece and in the broader EMEA-Emerging Europe region, according to the annual assessment by the international organization Extel, which gathers the opinions of 546 executives, analysts, and portfolio managers from 341 companies, evaluating candidates active in the emerging economies of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
At the same time, Alpha Bank was named the top banking institution in Greece for the third consecutive year, winning awards in seven categories and achieving the highest weighted score among banking institutions in the Emerging EMEA region.
For the third consecutive year, Alpha Bank’s CEO was recognized as the best CEO across all sectors in Greece, as well as in the EMEA region within the financial services sector. This distinction reflects the international investment community’s confidence in the strategy the Bank has been implementing in recent years, culminating in the strongest financial results in its history in 2025.
It should be noted that Vasilis Psaltis has been recognized repeatedly in this survey, a fact that highlights investors’ enduring confidence in him—whether in his role as CFO or, since 2019, as CEO—regarding the bank’s strategic direction.
In a statement, Mr. Psaltis noted: “Receiving top honors from a recognized organization—especially when they result from evaluations by investors and analysts in the international market—makes us proud, because it reflects the relationships of trust we have forged over time with the investment community, as well as their recognition of the quality of our strategic choices and our consistency in implementing them, thereby systematically creating value for our shareholders.”
A Triple First for the IR Team
Confirming the consistency and quality of its communication with the investment community, Alpha Bank’s Investor Relations team remained at the top in three categories:

- Investor/Analyst Event
At the same time, the Group’s Investor Relations Director, Iason Kepaptoglou, was named the top IR Professional for the third consecutive year for his effectiveness in communicating with the investment community.
A Leap Forward for ESG, First Place for the Board of Directors
Also noteworthy is the rise of the ESG business segment, which moved up from third place last year to first place this year in the ESG Program category. At the same time, the Bank’s Board of Directors was named the top performer in the Company Board category.
CFO Vasilis Kosmas Makes His Debut Among the Top Rankings
This year, in his first participation in the evaluation process, the Group’s Chief Financial Officer, Vasilis Kosmas, ranked among the top three choices of investors and analysts. This distinction reflects recognition of both the Group’s capital allocation strategy and the transparency of its communication with the market.
Extel (formerly Institutional Investor) is an internationally recognized provider of financial information. For three decades, its surveys have served as the most important criterion for the investment community in evaluating executives and organizations.
This year’s Emerging EMEA Executive Team survey included 401 candidate companies worldwide, which were evaluated based on metrics such as CEO credibility, the CFO’s strategic allocation of capital, the quality of IR meetings, the transparency of financial disclosures, and ESG metrics. Of these, 47 companies stood out as “Most Honored,” achieving the highest weighted score among banking institutions in the Emerging EMEA region.
