Lidl Hellas, true to its vision of continuous growth and improvement of the consumer shopping experience, opened the doors of its new store in Santorini, in the Mesaria area, on Thursday, June 18, 1st km of the Fira-Pyrgos National Road.
As noted in the relevant announcement, the new, state-of-the-art store replaced the company’s older location in the area, now offering a radically renovated, comfortable, and environmentally friendly space to the island’s residents and visitors.
The total investment for the project amounted to €14,860,000, a concrete demonstration of the company’s confidence in the local economy and the Greek region.
The new store stands out for its distinctive design, as it fully incorporates elements of Cycladic architecture, blending seamlessly with the island’s unique natural and built environment.
With a sales area of 916 square meters, the store is designed to offer an enhanced, fast, and enjoyable shopping experience. Among its key innovations and features are:
- Modern Checkout Lanes: It features a total of 10 checkout lanes, 6 of which are self-checkout lanes and 4 are traditional, ensuring maximum speed in transactions.
- Renovated Sections: It features a state-of-the-art Bake Off area with freshly baked pastries and bread baked daily, as well as a customer elevator for easy access.
- Outdoor facilities: It features a new, ergonomic shelter for shopping carts, making it easier for shoppers to move around.
Lidl Greece continues to invest in green mobility and convenient access:
- Parking: A total of 111 parking spaces are available, including 98 general spaces, 7 spaces for people with disabilities, and 6 charging stations for electric vehicles.
- Electric Vehicles: One EV charging station has been available since the very first day of operation, and technical plans are in place for future expansion to up to 6 charging stations.
For Lidl Hellas, this investment goes beyond mere numbers and square meters. It represents a living promise to the local community of Santorini: a commitment to stand by the island’s residents and business owners every day, offering high-quality products at the best possible price.
With respect for the Cycladic identity, an emphasis on sustainability, and an eye toward the future, the new store is not merely a shopping destination, but a new hub for connection, support, and growth for the entire island.
