The Independent Authority for Market Control and Consumer Protection is continuing its targeted enforcement actions to combat the circulation of counterfeit products on the market.
From June 16 to 18, 2026, officials from the Inter-Sectoral Market Control Unit (DIMEA) conducted inspections in the Regional Units of Thessaloniki and Rhodes, following up on previous inspections and acting on relevant information.
According to the relevant announcement, during the inspections, 20,035 counterfeit items were identified, seized, and destroyed, while administrative fines totaling €173,500 were imposed.The distribution of counterfeit products is not merely a violation of the law. It harms consumers, undermines legitimate businesses, and distorts the functioning of the market.
The Authority continues to conduct systematic inspections, drawing on information, complaints, and targeted enforcement actions, with the aim of protecting consumers, upholding the law, and ensuring conditions of fair competition.
