Businessman Dionysis Koumoudos is launching a new venture in the Greek hotel industry, as he seeks to make a strong mark in the hospitality sector with yet another project, this time on Meganisi.
This new investment adds to the entrepreneur’s growing portfolio, confirming his intention to emerge as a “major” player in Greek tourism.
The Greek expatriate, who recently made headlines due to the investment he had initiated in Sarakiniko, a Natura area on Milos, has yet another tourism project in the works.
The plan calls for the construction of a new hotel complex with a capacity of 50 beds on a 24-stremma plot in Vathi, perhaps the most popular settlement on Meganisi. In this context, the Lefkada Building Authority has given the “green light” for the preliminary approval of the relevant building permit, paving the way for the implementation of the new project.
This is the third consecutive investment initiated by Dionysis Koumoudos following the project that was “put on hold” in Milos.
The owner of the property on which the new complex will be developed is “Unique Properties Anonymous Tourist and Commercial Company (ATEE),” whose chairman and CEO is Dionysis Koumoudos.
In the Works
Among the entrepreneur’s most recent initiatives is his plan to develop a new hotel in an existing building in the heart of Athens. The property in question was built before 1955 and is located in the historic center of the Greek capital, specifically at 46 Perikleous Street.
According to the relevant building permit, converting part of the property into a hotel will require “adding stories” to the building.
In addition, the businessman, through his company “Ionian Sun S.A.,” has another investment in the works, worth 5 million euros, at the “Georgoutsia or Boureika” site in the municipality of Argostoli on Kefalonia. There, according to the plan, a hotel complex will be developed featuring two-story buildings with roofs, single-story buildings with semi-underground sections, and swimming pools, on a total area of 15,117.46 square meters.
It should be noted that “Ionian Sun S.A.” currently owns F Zeen Kefalonia and F Zeen Athens.
It is recalled that the Koumoudou family recently made headlines due to the investment it had initiated in Sarakiniko, a Natura area on Milos, through the company “Unique Developments ATEE,” which is also managing the Meganisi project.
This particular investment sparked fierce opposition, and following the mayor’s intervention, the Ministry of the Environment immediately halted work on the project and launched an investigation into the building permit issued by the Milos Urban Planning Authority.
