The first connection between Lemnos and Çanakkale, Turkey, took place today, Sunday, June 21, on the IMBROS catamaran. The entire local island community welcomed the event, describing it as significant for Lemnos’s connectivity and as a contribution to its further tourism development.
The first voyage brought to Lemnos representatives of the local government of Çanakkale, journalists, executives from the company operating the route, and Turkish visitors. The delegation was welcomed by Lemnos Mayor Eleonora Georga, along with heads of local government agencies. Representatives of local economic organizations also welcomed the delegation.
The Turkish delegation will remain on Lemnos until next Tuesday, conducting a series of visits and meetings.
The next voyage is scheduled for July 2, and the route is expected to continue through the fall.
The IMBROS catamaran can carry approximately 350 passengers but cannot transport vehicles. The journey takes 2.5 hours.
