Lidl Hellas is among the first companies to receive the “Diversity Seal,” an initiative to evaluate private-sector companies on issues of diversity, equality, and inclusion, implemented by the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family.
According to the relevant announcement, the certification recognizes the policies and practices implemented by the company to create a work environment that promotes equal opportunities and respect for diversity.
The evaluation process for the “Diversity Seal” covered numerous topics, ranging from workforce composition to practices applied throughout the entire employee lifecycle—from candidate recruitment and selection to their development and advancement.
In addition, the assessment evaluated criteria related to the accessibility of infrastructure and digital platforms, the existence of support measures for people with disabilities, commitments and actions promoting inclusion and social equality, as well as training programs and policies.
Commenting on the certification, Sofia Ouzounidou, Chief People Officer at Lidl Greece, stated: “At Lidl Greece, respect for diversity is a non-negotiable commitment, giving everyone the space to be themselves.
The ‘Diversity Seal’ validates this stance of ours, but above all, it reminds us of our responsibility to consistently uphold equality practices at every stage of our people’s journey. Because inclusion is reflected in the way we operate on a daily basis: in whether our people feel that they belong, that they are heard, and that they have equal opportunities to move forward, drawing strength from their uniqueness.”
The Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Ms. Domna Michailidou, stated: “I warmly congratulate Lidl Hellas on receiving the Diversity Seal. Retail businesses are in close contact with citizens every day and employ people in many different roles: in stores, in the supply chain, in management, and in customer service.
That is why workplace inclusion has very practical implications here. It means rules, procedures, and a culture that ensure every employee—regardless of gender—receives equal treatment, security, and opportunities for growth. The “Diversity Seal” recognizes companies that don’t just pay lip service, but implement policies of equality, diversity, and inclusion in their day-to-day operations.”
Lidl Hellas recognizes that meaningful progress requires the active promotion of inclusion and respect and emphasizes the importance of the entire business community adopting such policies.
According to the press release, to give a face and a voice to this very culture, the way Lidl Hellas puts inclusion and equality into daily practice is vividly captured in the new video series, which you can watch here.
