The ABAX Group announces with deep sorrow the passing of Konstantinos Kouvaras, Vice Chairman of the Group’s Board of Directors and one of the founders of ABAX S.A. His hard work, strategic thinking, and deep knowledge made him a widely recognized figure in the construction industry.
Konstantinos Kouvaras was born in Arta, where he completed high school. He graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1968.
As a co-founder of the engineering firm ABAX S.A. in 1986, Konstantinos Kouvaras served continuously on the Group’s Board of Directors for 40 years, and since 2020 he had been Executive Vice Chairman of the Group’s Board of Directors. He was the founding Chairman of VOLTERRA S.A. and Chairman of IXION Energy. He was a member of the Board of Directors of “Attiki Odos” and “Attiki Diadromes” since their inception.
He served the construction industry from the highest echelons of the sector’s representation. He served as Chairman of the Board of STEAT (Association of Higher-Class Engineering Companies) from 2010 to 2013. Previously, for three consecutive terms (1997–2005), he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of STEIT (Association of Class H Engineering Firms).
