With a focus on people and a steadfast commitment to equal access to healthcare services, HYGEIA Hospital is vigorously continuing its social work, implementing prevention and outreach initiatives in regions of Greece where the need for specialized medical care remains high.
According to the relevant announcement, as part of the Hellenic Healthcare Group’s “Pantou” Corporate Social Responsibility program, this year’s mission traveled to Lemnos on June 20 and 21, providing free medical services to the island’s residents.
The initiative was hosted at the 2nd Elementary School of Myrina and organized under the coordination of YGEIA Hospital. The team consisted of 28 doctors—representing 20 specialties—as well as 32 volunteer nursing, technical, and administrative staff members.
At the same time, free blood and biochemical tests were provided for adults and children, along with general ultrasounds, electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, Pap smears, gynecological ultrasounds, and spirometry tests. Resident participation was exceptionally high; over 780 residents were examined, and more than 3,500 medical and diagnostic tests were performed, confirming the necessity and value of such initiatives.
As part of the preventive screening, cases were identified that require further medical investigation and care. HYGEIA will provide free follow-up and care for these patients, thereby demonstrating in practice its long-standing social role and its commitment to equitable access to healthcare.
Mr. Andreas Kartapanis, Chairman and CEO of YGEIA, stated: “The ‘Pantou’ program is not merely a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative; it is our driving force that enables us to reach places where there is a genuine need.
Lemnos is yet another stop on this journey of service, aimed at prevention, early diagnosis, and equal access for all to quality healthcare services. Warm thanks to the doctors, our volunteers, and, of course, the residents for their trust and warm welcome.”
The Mayor of Lemnos, Ms. Eleonora Georga, stated: “On behalf of the local community of Lemnos, we express our sincere thanks to YGEIA and the HHG Group, as well as to the doctors and volunteers who participated in the initiative.
With a high degree of professionalism and a sense of responsibility, they provided invaluable preventive care and treatment services to the residents of our island. The high level of citizen participation highlights the importance of such initiatives for island and remote areas.”
The “Pantou” Corporate Social Responsibility program has now been established as a permanent institution of giving, consistently reflecting the philosophy and people-centered nature of the Hellenic Healthcare Group (HHG). With a steadfast focus on care, quality, and respect, we continue to stand by our fellow citizens throughout Greece.
