The creation of a Metropolitan Green and Recreation Center in the Municipality of Florina was included in the Special Program for a Just Developmental Transition of the National Development Program 2021–2025, by decision of the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Nikos Papathanasis, the creation of a Metropolitan Green and Recreation Center in the Municipality of Florina has been included.
The project, with a total public cost of 2,000,000 euros, involves the redevelopment of the “Bouat Florina” site, which for many years served as a landmark for various recreational events in the city of Florina. The site covers a total area of 40 stremmata at the western entrance to the city.
Plans call for the construction of three 5-on-5 soccer fields, two basketball courts, six tennis courts, outdoor fitness and free-play areas, a cycling area, an internal pedestrian network, the renovation of the existing 25-meter swimming pool, and the landscaping of the surrounding area.
The project is expected to address basic urban functions for which the city currently lacks adequate infrastructure, ensuring free access for all citizens.
The Municipality of Florina has been designated as the beneficiary of the project.
