Last week marked three years since the public renewed its trust in us in 2023, and in a few days it will be seven years since the Greek people entrusted us, for the first time in 2019, with the responsibility of governing the country. I strive every day to honor this mandate.
I know that citizens’ expectations and demands are high and that we do not always manage to meet them. However, since 2019, our country has made undeniable progress in many policy areas.
That is why today, instead of the customary weekly review of the government’s work, I have chosen to share with you just how much our country has progressed from 2019 to the present—in a measurable and documented way.
I do not believe that citizens make decisions based on a single report alone. They look—and rightly so—mainly to the future. They demand that we constantly improve. However, it is the consistency that links our commitments to the results that make citizens’ lives a little better every day that builds trust.
This is what we want to be our greatest competitive advantage. Every day, we strive to be a government that demonstrates in practice that it fulfills nearly all of its commitments. Nine out of ten of our pre-election commitments from 2023 have already been implemented or are on track to be implemented. And that is the best indicator of credibility.
Over the past seven years, Greece has changed in many ways—from the economy and employment to the digital transformation of government, healthcare, education, and the strengthening of national defense. I am well aware that not everything has been resolved. There are still problems that challenge citizens’ daily lives, and we continue to work on them with the same perseverance.
But in the face of an opposition that chooses to deny any progress and to dismiss every collective achievement of the country, we choose dialogue over confrontation. We choose commitments that translate into tangible results.
We are in the midst of a decade-long effort to transform the country, with 2030 on the horizon—the milestone marking 200 years since the founding of the modern Greek state. An effort that is not measured by slogans, but by tangible results.
That is why today I am sharing with you a comprehensive review of our work from 2019 to the present. Not to dwell on the past, but because what we have achieved together forms the foundation for what we are committed to changing by 2030.
Our country is moving forward—with national confidence, with a plan and unity, and with political stability that fuels bold reforms and fair changes. And we’re continuing on this path.
