Piraeus Bank offers its customers who use the IRIS Payments service the ability to make free and instant international money transfers through the EuroPA (European Payments Alliance) network.
EuroPA interconnects national instant account-to-account payment solutions—such as IRIS Payments in Greece, MB WAY in Portugal, Bizum in Spain, and BANCOMAT Pay in Italy and Andorra—with the goal of creating a unified European payments ecosystem.
Piraeus Bank’s retail customers who are registered with the IRIS Payments service can now send and receive money instantly and free of charge to and from users abroad—initially in Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Andorra—using only the recipient’s mobile phone number, just as they send money within Greece.
The EuroPA network is gradually expanding to include other national payment solutions from many different countries within SEPA, so that Piraeus Bank customers will eventually be able to exchange money instantly and free of charge using a mobile phone in 18 countries.
Through its participation in EuroPA, Piraeus Bank reaffirms its leading role in digital payments, offering innovative, instant, and secure services that facilitate the daily transactions of its customers in Greece and Europe, the bank emphasizes in its announcement.
