Supporting Greek sports over the years has been a strategic choice for Stoiximan since its very first day of operation. From supporting Greek male and female athletes at successive Olympic Games to its partnership as a Gold Sponsor of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Stoiximan remains steadfastly committed to creating the conditions that allow athletes to develop and pursue their goals.
As noted in a related announcement, as part of this commitment, Stoiximan, through the Hellenic Olympic Committee, donated 20 racing boats to the Hellenic Sailing Federation, significantly bolstering the development of Greek sailing and creating new opportunities for the next generation of athletes.
The donation includes 10 Optimist-class boats and 10 ILCA-class boats, which will be housed at the Athens International Sailing Center and used by the national teams, as well as at the Federation’s training camps. At the same time, they will meet the needs of male and female athletes from the provinces and the islands—areas where access to the necessary equipment and suitable training conditions remains a significant challenge.
This initiative addresses a real need in Greek sailing. Transporting racing boats entails significant financial and logistical costs for families and clubs, often limiting young athletes’ ability to participate in high-level training sessions and competitions. With the provision of these 20 boats, more young people from every corner of Greece will gain access to the same training conditions, thereby promoting equal participation and opportunities for their development.
The President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Isidoros Kouvelos, stated: “I would like to thank Stoiximan and, personally, Mr. Nikos Fligos for their support of the Hellenic Olympic Committee’s work. And it’s not just the funds provided for the purchase of these 20 boats, but also the costs covered for their transportation to competitions abroad—which is also a significant expense—that greatly helps our young athletes, who will now have their own boats.
We continue to work with our eyes on the future and will support other young athletes, aged 14 and 15, so they don’t leave the sport. The goal is not just medals, but above all the value of sports.”
This initiative was born out of a shared goal to provide solutions to needs that substantially affect athletes’ daily lives.
