INTRACOM DEFENSE (IDE) has signed a contract with MBDA Deutschland GmbH for the development and serial production of the data link solution for the DEFENDAIR missile (formerly SADM – Small Anti-Drone Missile). The program leverages the proven missile communications technologies developed by IDE, as well as its long-standing expertise in advanced defense electronics and tactical communications systems.
As part of the project, the relevant announcement notes, IDE will undertake the development, prototype manufacturing, support for integration into various platforms, and the establishment of a production line for the future serial production of the integrated communications system—both for the ground segment and the missile—fully meeting DEFENDAIR’s operational requirements.
The DEFENDAIR program strengthens IDE’s position in the rapidly evolving European counter-unmanned aerial system (Counter-UAS) ecosystem and supports broader European initiatives aimed at enhancing integrated, mobile, scalable, and cost-effective air defense capabilities against emerging threats from unmanned aerial vehicles.
Through continuous investment in research and development, state-of-the-art industrial infrastructure, and specialized scientific staff, has developed competitive technological capabilities that enable it to successfully support demanding next-generation defense programs in the international market.
