The Annual General Meeting of the Greek-American Chamber of Commerce was held on Monday, June 29, 2026, at the Athinaion InterContinental Hotel, with the required quorum and participation of its members, and was a great success.
The meeting began with a welcome address by President Ioannis D. Sarakakis to the members of the Greek-American Chamber of Commerce. The President referred to the Chamber’s strategy and rebranding, emphasizing that: “An organization with the history of the Greek-American Chamber of Commerce must not only manage the present but also prepare for the future. And that is the key message of today’s meeting:
Now, together, we are embarking on the next chapter of the Greek-American Chamber of Commerce. As a natural and evolutionary continuation of a great journey. With respect for our history, with confidence in our members, and with ambition for the role we can play in the years to come.”
The U.S. Ambassador to Athens, Kimberly Guilfoyle, participated as the keynote speaker and spoke about the business environment between the U.S. and Greece and the exceptional cooperation between the U.S. Embassy and the Greek-American Chamber of Commerce in Athens: “Our work will ultimately be judged not by words, but by tangible results and meaningful achievements.
Together, we have already secured significant agreements in the energy sector and achieved historic milestones that demonstrate what energy security means in practice. Equally significant progress has been made in artificial intelligence, critical minerals, resilient supply chains, and investment cooperation. Organizations such as yours are indispensable partners on this shared journey.
Your leadership, participation, and commitment transform our shared aspirations into sustained progress. The challenge we present to you is simple: let’s achieve even more together.”
Rania Aikaterinari, Chair of the Executive Committee and Vice Chair of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV), stated: “Productivity is the major national challenge of the coming decade. To succeed, we need more investment, faster adoption of technology, innovation ecosystems, and strategic partnerships.
The strong economic ties between Greece and the United States are not limited to trade or investment. They serve as a conduit for the transfer of knowledge, technology, and innovation that strengthens the country’s competitiveness. In this context, the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises’ (SEV) collaboration with the Greek-American Chamber of Commerce takes on particular strategic value.”
Ilias Spirtounias, Executive Director, Athens, presented the Greek-American Chamber of Commerce’s 2025 management report, Katerina Sokou, Executive Director in Washington, presented the activities of the Washington Office. Chrysos Kavounidis, Treasurer of the Greek-American Chamber of Commerce, presented the financial results for 2025.
The Annual General Meeting of the Greek-American Chamber of Commerce was closed by the President, Mr. Ioannis D. Sarakakis.
