Mild gains in European markets, stronger gains on the Greek stock market.
Led by the banking sector, the General Index returned above the 2,500-point mark, with satisfactory trading volume, a significant portion of which was through pre-arranged orders.
Turnover from block trades totaled 23.9 million euros, involving shares of PPC, OTE, and Piraeus Bank.
From the start of the session, investors adopted a “buying” strategy, with the first orders for bank stocks placed above the 2,800-point level.
As the session progressed, the DTR approached 2,840, with 2.9 million shares traded out of a total of 5.4 million shares.
DEI and OTE held the top two spots in the relevant ranking, with buy orders pushing their prices up to 23.12 and 18.83 euros, respectively.
Next were Piraeus Bank at 9.378 euros, Alpha Bank at 4.061, National Bank of Greece at 15.54, and Eurobank at 4.268.
As the session progressed, buyers gained full control of the FTSE 25, as the prices of all its stocks were trading in positive territory.
According to brokers, the return of buyers to the banking sector continues today; it remains to be seen whether this marks a more permanent shift toward the sector. Meanwhile, buying is also taking place in blue-chip stocks such as Motor Oil at 40.7 euros, ELVALHALCOR at 5.03, Helleniq Energy at 10.92, GEK Terna at 45.74, Metlen at 41.62, Aegean at 12.89, and others.
New highs for Coca-Cola HBC and Motor Oil among large-cap stocks, as well as for Profile, Tzirakian, and Real Consulting.
Attica Department Stores shares traded at 3.2085, with increased trading volume of 490,000 shares under the ticker symbol ADPS.
It should be noted that the company’s market capitalization stands at 193.1 million euros.
The ratio of shares with a positive to negative sign is 76 to 33.
