On the initiative of Nikos Papathanasis, Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, a consultation workshop will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the Athens Conservatory, on the topic: “Cohesion Policy in the 2028–2034 Programming Period | Draft National and Regional Partnership Agreement.”
The workshop marks the official launch of the national dialogue on shaping Greece’s strategy in preparation for the new 2028–2034 programming period and the drafting of the new national and regional partnership plan. This is a particularly important process through which the country’s development priorities for the next decade will be defined, in close cooperation with European institutions and all national and regional partners.
The goal of the workshop is to foster a substantive and open dialogue between the government, European institutions, local government, social and economic partners, the academic community, and civil society, in order to shape a modern and effective development framework that will respond to the new European priorities and the real needs of the Greek regions.
The workshop will focus on the major development challenges of the upcoming 2028–2034 programming period, such as strengthening competitiveness and innovation, the green and digital transition, the demographic challenge, skills development, addressing the brain drain, strengthening regional resilience, and promoting social cohesion and territorial convergence throughout the country.
The workshop marks the first organized step toward shaping Greece’s national position on the future of cohesion policy after 2027 and aims to contribute to the development of a modern, participatory, and effective development model that will strengthen sustainable development, cohesion, and the competitiveness of the country and its regions.
