Giorgos Karameros announced his resignation from his parliamentary seat representing Eastern Attica and from all party positions within SYRIZA-PS.
“Coming from local government and Political Ecology, I collaborated, joined the party, and was elected as a new member of parliament in 2023. I unexpectedly found myself on the front lines, standing firm despite everything that has happened.
I will remain on this front line going forward, but as an active citizen, a simple ‘soldier’ in the necessary, victorious progressive alliance of social democracy, the left, and political ecology—which I identify with as an expression and representation of my values,” notes G. Karameros in a post.
“From the very beginning, I have maintained that Alexis Tsipras’s initiative and, subsequently, the formation of ELAS offer a vision for Greece. This support remains—and has in fact grown stronger—as a political assessment. So, I’m doing exactly what I said I would,” he emphasizes, expressing his intention to inform the Speaker of the House by the end of next week and to hand over his seat to the party.
