Greek exports continued their upward course in July 2026, according to the provisional data published today 07.09.2026 by the Hellenic Statistical Authority and processed by SEVE’s IIES. Specifically, they amounted to €5,073.3 million in July 2026 compared with €4,378.6 million in July 2025, recording an increase of +15.9% (+€694.7 million). Imports increased by €790.4 million, i.e. +10.7%, reaching €8,182.1 million from €7,391.7 million last year. As a result, the trade deficit widened by €95.7 million, that is +3.2%, amounting to €3,108.8 million compared with €3,013.1 million in July 2025.

The picture of merchandise transactions excluding petroleum products remains in positive territory, as exports reached €3,598.6 million in July 2026, from €3,384.1 million in the corresponding month of 2025, strengthened by €214.5 million or 6.3%. Imports declined slightly to €6,084.4 million, recording a decrease of €46.8 million or 0.8% compared with last year. Thus, the trade deficit shrank by €261.3 million or 9.5%, amounting to €2,485.8 million compared with €2,747.1 million in July 2025.

During the period January–July 2026, Greek exports also moved on a particularly positive trajectory, reaching €32,755.8 million compared with €28,498.2 million in the corresponding period of 2025, strengthened by €4,257.6 million or 14.9%. Imports amounted to €51,898.5 million from €48,399.1 million, increased by €3,499.4 million or 7.2%, while the trade deficit declined to €19,142.7 million from €19,900.9 million, improved by €758.2 million or 3.8%.

If petroleum products are excluded, exports during the period January–July 2026 amounted to €23,666.6 million, compared with €22,148.4 million in the corresponding period of 2025, recording an increase of €1,518.2 million or 6.9%. Imports stood at €39,743.2 million, from €39,017.8 million last year, increased by €725.4 million or 1.9%. The trade deficit, finally, was reduced to €16,076.6 million from €16,869.4 million in the corresponding period of 2025, improved by €792.8 million or 4.7%.
At the sectoral level, the petroleum products sector recorded the largest increase in absolute terms, with a rise of €2,867.0 million (+41.2%), constituting the main driver of the overall improvement in Greek exports in the period January–July 2026. The performance of food also remained strong, with an increase of €548.1 million (+10.1%), confirming their steady presence in international markets. Machinery–vehicles also recorded a notable increase, by €278.3 million (+9.8%), as did raw materials, by €223.9 million (+22.4%). Industrial products also moved upward, by €216.1 million (+4.7%), chemicals, by €196.5 million (+5.1%), and miscellaneous industrial products, by €45.9 million (+2.1%), while beverages–tobacco also posted a marginal increase, by €5.0 million (+0.5%). By contrast, unclassified products moved downward, with a decrease of €3.2 million (-3.7%), and especially fats and oils, which declined by €122.5 million (-18.8%) compared with the corresponding period of 2025.
