Cenergy Holdings announces that Corinth Pipeworks, its steel pipes segment, has been awarded a significant contract by DESFA (National Natural Gas System Operator) for the manufacture and supply of steel pipes as part of the project “Duplication of the Karperi – Komotini High Pressure Branch”, a major energy infrastructure investment currently underway in Greece.
As part of the project, the company will manufacture and supply more than 200 km of 30-inch diameter steel pipes, manufactured using the helically submerged arc welded (HSAW) method, contributing to the development of a new parallel high-pressure natural gas transmission network.
The new network is expected to enhance the capacity, flexibility and resilience of Greece’s National Natural Gas System.
The pipes will be manufactured at Corinth Pipeworks’ state-of-the-art facilities in Thisvi, Boeotia and will feature a three-layer polyethylene external anti-corrosion coating (3LPE), as well as an internal epoxy coating.
An important feature of the project is the compatibility of its design for the transport of up to 100% pure hydrogen (hydrogen-ready), contributing to the energy transition of Greece and Europe towards cleaner forms of energy.
The “Duplication of the Karperi-Komotini High Pressure Branch” is a project of strategic importance for Greece. The new 218.5-kilometre parallel network will contribute to eliminating capacity constraints in the northern part of the National Natural Gas System, strengthening energy security and enabling the development of more regional interconnections, including exports via the Greece–Bulgaria Interconnector (IGB), while also supporting the region’s growing energy needs.
