Alpha Bank is once again supporting the “Back to School” program of the Non-Governmental Association DESMOS this year as well, contributing to covering the basic school needs of more than 870 children from vulnerable families, as part of its steadfast commitment to creating equal opportunities for every child.
As part of the initiative, a delivery of school supplies recently took place at the Hatzikyriakeio Child Protection Foundation in Piraeus, in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alpha Bank, Dimitris Tsitsiragos, as well as representatives of the Non-Governmental Association DESMOS.
The initiative is part of the bank’s social contribution actions focusing on education. Alpha Bank offered school bags fully equipped with school supplies to four Social Grocery Stores and two Child Protection Institutions.
The beneficiary organizations are:
- The Social Grocery Store of Korydallos
- The Social Grocery Store of Chalandri
- The Social Grocery Store and Meal Provision of the Municipality of Metamorfosi
- The Social Grocery Store of Salamina
- The Child Protection Association “Veniamin” in Katerini
- The Hatzikyriakeio Child Protection Foundation in Piraeus
The presence of Alpha Bank’s Chairman at the Hatzikyriakeio Foundation highlighted the importance the bank places on the practical support of organizations and initiatives that create more opportunities for children.
Mr. Tsitsiragos stated: “The first day at school should be a day of joy, anticipation and self-confidence for every child. Through our cooperation with DESMOS, we help ensure that children from vulnerable families have the necessary school supplies to start the new school year on equal terms. For Alpha Bank, supporting education is a meaningful investment in equal opportunities and in the future of our society”.
Representatives of Alpha Bank also participated in deliveries of school supplies to the social organizations of Korydallos, Metamorfosi and Katerini.
