With an event dedicated to the present and, above all, the future of Greek commerce, the Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (ESEE) is honoring this year’s Greek Commerce Day, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at 12:00, at the ESEE Amphitheater (42 Mitropoleos, Syntagma).
At the center of the anniversary event is the presentation of the project “GEOVASI – The economic geography of commerce”, a modern tool for mapping and analyzing commercial activity throughout Greece.
The event will be honored by the presence of the Minister of National Economy and Finance Kyriakos Pierrakakis.
“GEOVASI” aspires to become a new point of reference for knowledge about Greek commerce. Through the collection, processing, and spatial visualization of data, it captures the dynamics of commercial activity at national and local level, highlights the particularities of each market, and creates a comprehensive picture of the economic geography of the sector.
Commerce acquires its own modern mapping
Where is commercial activity concentrated? How are local markets changing? Which areas show greater dynamism and which face new challenges? “GEOVASI” transforms data into knowledge and knowledge into a valuable tool for the business community, institutional bodies, and policymaking for commerce.
The presentation of the project marks yet another substantial step in ESEE’s strategy for a commerce that knows, measures, analyzes, and plans its future with documentation.
The Greek Commerce Day also constitutes a leading institutional occasion to highlight the decisive contribution of commerce to the Greek economy, entrepreneurship, employment, and social cohesion. A sector present in every city and neighborhood of the country, directly connected with the daily life of citizens and the vitality of local economies.
At a time when the economy, technology, and consumer habits are changing rapidly, reliable knowledge and the use of data are now a basic prerequisite for making correct decisions.
“With this year’s event, ESEE sends a clear message. Greek commerce is not merely following changes – it is acquiring the tools to understand them, adapt, and plan its next day”, the announcement concludes.
