The new picture of the political landscape after the Thessaloniki International Fair 2026 is recorded by the MRB poll on behalf of OPEN, which was conducted from 14-16/9 on a nationwide sample of 1,000 people aged 17 and over.
The survey captures both voting intention and citizens' views on the announcements presented at the TIF, while it includes questions about Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Nikos Androulakis and Alexis Tsipras, as well as about the possibility of creating a new party under Antonis Samaras.
Voting intention
In voting intention for the parliamentary elections, New Democracy is recorded at 23.8%, the same percentage as in the previous July measurement.
ELAS gathers 14.3%, compared with 14.4% in July, while PASOK stands at 10.2%, up from 9.1% in the previous measurement. The numerical difference between ND and ELAS in this measurement is shaped at 9.5 percentage points.
They are followed by Greek Solution with 7.7%, the KKE with 5.5%, Hope for Democracy with 4.3%, Course of Freedom with 3.2% and Voice of Reason with 3.1%.
MeRA25 is recorded at 1.9%, the Democrats – Progressive Center at 1.3% and SYRIZA at 1%, while the “other party” gathers 5.7%.
A special feature of the measurement is the undecided vote, which amounts overall to 18%. More specifically, 14.7% state “I have not decided/I do not answer”, while 3.3% place themselves in the “blank/invalid/abstention” category.
In the previous July measurement, MRB recorded 23.8% for ND, 14.4% for ELAS and 9.1% for PASOK, figures that had also been published then by media outlets.
In the projection to the total, the percentages are shaped at 29% for ND, 17.4% for ELAS and 12.4% for PASOK. They are followed by Greek Solution with 9.4%, the KKE with 6.7%, Hope for Democracy with 5.2%, Course of Freedom with 3.9%, Voice of Reason with 3.8%, MeRA25 with 2.3%, the Democrats with 1.6% and SYRIZA with 1.2%. The “other party” reaches 7.1%.
Compared with the projection of the July measurement, ND remains at 29%, ELAS moves from 17.6% to 17.4% and PASOK from 11.1% to 12.4%. The corresponding July figures had been recorded in MRB's published survey.
How Mitsotakis' measures at the TIF are evaluated
In the part of the survey concerning the effectiveness of the measures announced by Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the TIF, 30.2% evaluate them positively: 6.7% “very positively” and 23.5% “fairly positively”.
By contrast, 58.9% evaluate them negatively, with 23.7% answering “fairly negatively” and 35.2% “very negatively”. 10.9% state “I don't know/I don't answer”.
In a separate question on whether the measures correspond to the capabilities of the Greek economy, 53.7% estimate that fewer measures were announced than the state of the economy allows. 24.7% believe that as many were announced as the country's economic capabilities allow, 9.6% that more were announced and 12% do not take a position.
There is an even greater concentration of responses when the question concerns the direct benefit for citizens themselves or their households. Overall, 83.4% answer that they benefit “a little” or “not at all” from the measures: 27% “a little” and 56.4% “not at all”.
On the other hand, 9.6% state that they or their household benefit “a lot” or “quite a lot”, with the individual percentages shaped at 1.3% and 8.3% respectively. 7.1% do not know or do not answer.
The announcements by Androulakis and Tsipras at the TIF
For the measures presented by Nikos Androulakis at the TIF, 25% of respondents evaluate them positively in terms of their effectiveness — 4.3% “very positively” and 20.7% “fairly positively”.
Negative evaluation is given overall by 31.5%, with 13.5% answering “fairly negatively” and 18% “very negatively”. At the same time, 38% state that they did not follow the relevant announcements, while 5.5% do not know or do not answer.
When respondents are asked to position themselves on Nikos Androulakis' economic assessments, 39.7% state that they are “definitely” or “probably” closer to his assessment, while 37.2% place themselves “definitely” or “probably” closer to the government's assessment. 23.1% do not take a position.
For the measures presented by Alexis Tsipras at the TIF, 22.3% evaluate them positively, with 5.5% answering “very positively” and 16.8% “fairly positively”.
37.3% evaluate them negatively -14% “fairly negatively” and 23.3% “very negatively”- while 35.1% state that they did not follow the announcements. 5.3% do not know or do not answer.
On the question of the economic assessments that accompanied his announcements, 27.3% place themselves closer to Alexis Tsipras' assessment and 45.4% closer to the government's assessment. 27.4% answer “I don't know/I don't answer”.
Specifically on how likely citizens consider it that Alexis Tsipras would tax great wealth, 22.1% consider it “very” or “fairly likely”. By contrast, 67.5% answer that they consider it “probably” or “definitely unlikely”, while 10.4% do not take a position.
“Most suitable prime minister” and a new Samaras party
The poll also includes the question “most suitable prime minister – by suggestion”. In the survey responses, Kyriakos Mitsotakis is chosen by 23.7% of respondents and Alexis Tsipras by 14%. Nikos Androulakis gathers 6.9%, Kyriakos Velopoulos 6.1%, Maria Karystianou 4.1%, Zoe Konstantopoulou also 4.1% and Dimitris Koutsoumpas 2.3%.
Yanis Varoufakis gathers 2%, Afroditi Latinopoulou 1.9% and Stefanos Kasselakis 1.8%. 9.2% answer “someone else”, while “no one” is chosen by 23.5% and 0.4% do not know or do not answer.
A separate question concerns the possibility of creating a new party led by former prime minister Antonis Samaras.
Overall, 16.8% answer that it would be likely they would vote for it: 4.9% “definitely” and 11.9% “probably”. By contrast, 79.2% state that they would not vote for it, with 13.8% answering “I probably would not vote for it” and 65.4% “I definitely would not vote for it”. 4% do not know or do not answer.
The Marc poll
According to the Marc survey, on behalf of ANT1, in voting intention, ND is at 27.5%, ELAS 14%, PASOK 10.1%, Greek Solution 6.5%, the KKE 6%, Course of Freedom 4.9%, Hope for Democracy 4.6%, Voice of Reason 2.9%, MeRA25 2.9%, SYRIZA 0.9%, Niki 1.2%, the Spartans 1%, the Democrats-PK 0.7%, Other Party 3.8%, while the percentage of undecided voters is at 11%.
In the vote estimate, ND is at 31%, ELAS 16%, PASOK 11.5%, Greek Solution 7.2%, the KKE 6.8%, Course of Freedom 5.5%, Hope for Democracy 5.5%, Voice of Reason 3.5%, MeRA25 3.2%, SYRIZA 1.6%, the Spartans 1.4%, Niki 1.3%, the Democrats-PK 1%, Other Party 4.5%.
